Northrup Grumman Corporation, a top global security company, selected Jim Kane (pictured) as vice president and program manager for the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) program.  His new position will be in effect starting on Sept. 19.

Kane will be in charge of the program management of the IT infrastructure Partnership between the company and the Commonwealth of Virginia.  The purpose of this partnership is to help update the state’s executive branch’s IT infrastructure, as well as offer resources and knowledge to improve the delivery of services.

“I am pleased to welcome Jim Kane to our program,” said Sam Nixon, chief information officer of the Commonwealth. “His experience as a CIO and in-depth information technology background will benefit the Commonwealth as we continue to work together to enable the business of government. We look forward to working with Jim and welcome him and his wife back to Virginia.”

Kane will replace Sam Abbate, who played an critical role in starting these new modernization efforts.   Kane was previously Northrop Grumman’s director of IT Services on the U.S. Missile Defense Agency Joint National Integration Center Research and Development Contract program.  He is continuing a 17-year career with the company with a variety of management positions.
