Mark HuYoung, Partner and Co-founder of NorthWind Partners, is a man of integrity and trustworthiness when it comes to catering to his clients.  Through his search and leadership consulting firm, HuYoung and his team provide guidance to and work on building successful leadership teams.

It can easily be said that HuYoung is good at what he does as 75 percent of his firm’s clients are advised for the long term. Clients also seek HuYoung’s advice on human capital issues like succession planning, leadership development, organizational assessment and restructuring, market competitive intelligence, and much more. The primary goal for HuYoung and NorthWind is to build and uphold long-term relationships with clients and other leaders and executives in the greater Washington D.C market.

Before joining NorthWind Partners, HuYoung was a founding Vice President at a top healthcare executive search firm and led the functional CFO and HR practices. He also helped establish the technology and industrial practices of a large global firm. Prior to his search career, HuYoung held management roles in corporate strategy and development with a publicly traded communications and media company.  He was appointed the youngest director of the company’s 50 years of operation.

Amongst the advice and counsel HuYoung often gives to other executives, he encourages them to be avid users of social media as well as other avenues of networking.  “Society has become more competitive across every facet of life, the business arena being a prime example.  It is vitally important to learn how to stand out from the crowd in order to secure better opportunities,” said HuYoung.  “Executives need to know it is okay and smart to proactively manage their careers. No one else will do it for them.”

HuYoung is also recognized for his success and involvement outside NorthWind.  In the past, he was named one of Business Tennessee’s “Most Influential Business Leaders” and has been recognized as one of the top recruiters in government contracting by other publications. HuYoung serves on the board of the Central Asia Sharing Aid, an organization that helps care and educate for needy or disabled children and orphans in Central Asia.  He is also a member of AFCEA, AUSA, AIAA,  HIMSS, NDIA and other trade associations and community organizations.

“Although the search business is often very transactional in nature, Mark focuses on building long term relationships with leaders in our industry and prides himself on providing valuable counsel which is in the best interest of both the companies and executives he serves.”-Bo Durickovic, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff at Serco
