Three words that describe Becca Willcox immediately; positive, energetic and giving. As the sales and marketing manager at The Capital Grille restaurant in Tyson’s Corner, Willcox is someone who puts herself before others.
Graduating in 2005 from George Mason University with a degree in communications with a concentration in public relations, Willcox didn’t think she’d find herself in the restaurant business. But after being offered the position of sales and marketing manager straight out of college, she has stuck with it and has since become excited about what each day has to offer. She meets people of every status and background, and makes sure to be accommodating and grateful to all. “You can shake a million hands, but if you do not establish relevance between yourself and another person, you will more than likely be wasting your time,” said Willcox.
Being a connector in the community has allowed Willcox to learn about people she sees constantly. “Communication and recognition are important when building a loyal clientele and dealing with them on a daily basis,” suggests Willcox.
In addition to working at The Capital Grille, she is volunteers her time with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Nominated as “Woman of the Year” for the organization, Willcox has started her own team to help raise money to fund research and a cure for all types of blood cancers. She started the team in honor of her friend’s father who passed away from multiple Myeloma. Her goal, along with her other teammates is to raise $100,000.
