Anne Altman is the General Manager of IBM’s Global Public Sector. She is responsible for the strategy, direction and development of solutions for public sector clients worldwide spanning federal, state and local government, education, health care, life sciences and pharmaceutical industries.
Altman’s personal brand comprises of passion and dedication. Although there has been much change since her start at IBM in 1981, she has helped clients leverage hardware and software technologies, research and give her deep expertise.
In order to build her brand she has grounded a set of values that guide decision-making. She suggests being bold and looking to solve challenges in imaginative ways. “Building your personal brand alone is not an effective way to earn trust and respect,” said Altman. “Collaboration is important. You will achieve better results and feel a greater sense of accomplishment.”
When building career relationships, Altman advises to foster a strong and diverse professional network because it helps one become more effective in the business community. The connections, and friendships, that she has made enable her to expand her knowledge and improve the level of expertise she shares with clients and those she works with every day.
Along with working at IBM, Altman serves on boards of the Northern Virginia Technology Council,James Madison University’s Executive Advisory Council, National Symphony Orchestra and theNational Kidney Foundation. Altman feels it’s her duty and an honor to serve to the larger nonprofit community.
