Gibbs & Cox, Inc., announced yesterday that Shawn Tallant has been named that company’s new vice president for business development and strategy. Tallant’s role will be to “develop and oversee strategic business plans and execute corporate business growth activities for Gibbs & Cox’s complete portfolio of U.S. government agencies, domestic and international commercial clients,” according to a prepared statement.

Tallant, a former US Navy strike fighter pilot, was previously working in senior management  with Raytheon Corporation’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) in business development. His new home, Gibbs & Cox, is an independent engineering firm specializing in “naval architecture, marine engineering, management support and engineering consulting.”

“Shawn brings more than 33 years experience spanning military and industry strategy development, program requirements and acquisition, and will be a key member of our team as we build for a robust future,” said Rick Biben, Gibbs & Cox’s chief executive. “As Gibbs & Cox continues to support programs for our Navy customers and engage with key industry partners, his deep understanding of the U.S. Navy’s warfighting mission, platform and system requirements, as well as customer fiscal and programmatic challenges will be critical.”
